Bhairon Niwas Palace , Bikaner Heritage Hotels
Summary :
This heritage property of Bhairon Vilas was the residence of Maharaja Bhairon Singh Ji, who laid the foundation stone of the palace in the year 1872. The palace has an interesting history attached to its name, as it was during digging the site to lay its foundation that the staff found an idol of god Bhairon, which they have now placed inside the hotel as a sign of good omen. The hotel was so named after the god as well as the name of its owner, Maharaja Bhairon singh. Nestled near the historic Junagarh Fort, this palace boast of a long list of distinguished and famous guests including Lord Curzon, Lord Hardinge, and almost all governor generals and viceroys of India. Today the descendents of Bhairon Singh Ji's family still live in the haveli and have converted it into a heritage Hotel... with a difference!
